Ah, weird. I made a comment on this today, but it didn't show up...probably landed on some other page here on DA, I did that before. What I said was: WOW! Amazing photo. Wonder I hadn't seen this before, quit hiding stuff from me ;)

Simply beautiful. So many things came together wonderfully in this; the form of the splash, the focus, and the especially the play of colors reflected in and around the water.

thank you very much.
maybe you could be the person that gets me over the hump.
can you tell me about the print option here on D.A.?
I have asked people in the past about paper quality, and had no responses.
With the response I have had from this print, I am truly crazy if I do not look at the options that are available. My ears are wide open.
sincerely,
doug

there are two ways to do it, first is to have a print account, or you can still do it without a print account, but you only get 10% without a print account. second you can go edit your deviation, and have the option to submit as a print. The prints sold of photographs are of high quality photo paper, or mugs, or magnets. Good luck as no one has ever bought any of my prints.

way back at the beginning of this comment section, you will find my description of the set-up. really easy to create, you create the background with a piece of paper, you choose the reflective value. etc.
it covers it well. and in my GALLERY, in the SCRAPBOOK, you will see two versions of the set-up that included the PILLAR picture.

have fun.

i do not know about the P100. you are looking for the closest point at which any normal lens will get you. a macro lens will allow you get as close as you want.
the flash is the part that surprised me, set on auto, bounce it off the sideboard every now and then to see the difference.

i am sorry, i cannot help you with your camera selection.
i have always been a fan of canon cameras, mostly because of their lenses.
but for pricing of gear in europe, i am at a complete loss.

luminous-landscape.com has a great review section. they might be able to help you narrow down your selections.

good luck.

thanks for asking. way back to the beginning of these comments... i have spelled out the process. one of my first responses was a long one.
and in my scrapbook (found in gallery) there is a shot of myself and "pureadrenalin", working on this very set-up.
have fun.
